APC analyzes fixed property loss data • August 11, 2008
American Property Claims, the leading national property damage adjusting firm, and division of AutoClaims Direct Inc., today announced statistical reporting data regarding fixed property severity and loss frequency involving automobiles.
In a report sampling 10,000 auto claims it was revealed that the loss ratio involving vehicles hitting fixed property (landscape, fences, commercial buildings, and residential property) occurred at a rate of 15 losses per every 1000 claims filed. "This means that on average, 1.5% of all auto claims will involve some vehicle impacting fixed property." states APC Chief Operations Officer Tara Esquivel. "We often find adjusters paying contractor bids in an effort to resolve these seemingly small losses. This is tempting but usually results in many claims being grossly overpaid. Our ACD adjusters who handle property losses conduct full in person assessments and prepare complete damage appraisals line by line."
The average severity for fixed property losses in 2008 is currently at $2921.27. While the scope and extent of damage can vary greatly for each individual loss, this statistical average gives managers a basis to work with in the auto sector when allocating reserves for fixed property losses. "We find in our analysis that by completing a full damage appraisal with our staff adjusters we are able to settle claims on average $1770 less per file than paying purely off a bid.
APC expands and adds to core nucleus • March 4, 2008
American Property Claims, the leading national property damage adjusting firm, today reported significant increases in claims processed over the past twelve months in addition to new key staff appointments. APC is the property division of the forward thinking parent company AutoClaims Direct Inc.
The past calendar year has seen APC process just over 9,000 claims. American Property Claims has utilized this new growth period to primarily focusing on developing a core team of account supervisors to manage new accounts as the division expands.
“In 2006, as our client's expressed a need for a quality property damage adjusting firm, we created APC as a direct extension of our existing parent company AutoClaims Direct. By tailoring our preeminent auto claims business model to the needs of the property industry we were able to efficiently handle a large variety of homeowner's losses with amazing results and client cost reductions. We have taken a very selective approach to our growth plan for American Property Claims since its inception. Our primary goal has been to deliver fast, accurate and professional property damage appraisals through honing the skills of our appraisal teams." States APC President, Ernie Bray. "Our executive panel wanted to see one full calendar year of results before embarking on expansion plans. The results that have been seen during this relatively short time span have proven grounds for APC to begin pushing forward with plans to grow and expand into a larger share of the current property claims market. With the addition of several new account managers and a veteran property claims supervisor overseeing the new growth and development of APC, I feel we have the base nucleus in place to deliver unmatched results in the property damage adjusting and appraisal sector of the industry," added Bray.
American Property Claims (APC) specializes in homeowner's claims including; manufactured homes, residential, commercial, water losses, fire losses, hail damage, recreation vehicles, and specialty fixtures. APC provides live real time file access to the insurance adjuster along with online file completion and reporting.
